Presidente do Instituto Robert Koch disse que o número de infecções diárias pode ser até o dobro ou o triplo das cifras oficias
A Alemanha registrou na última quarta-feira (17) um novo recorde de casos de Covid-19, enquanto autoridades políticas e sanitárias alertam para um cenário dramático da pandemia no país.
De acordo com o Instituto Robert Koch, foram 65.371 casos e 264 mortes em 24 horas, o que significa um aumento de cerca de 12,5 mil contágios em relação ao recorde anterior (52.826), registrado exatamente um dia antes.
Até a semana passada, a Alemanha nunca havia tido mais de 50 mil casos em um único dia. “A situação nunca foi tão preocupante como agora, estamos em uma emergência muito grave”, disse na última quarta o presidente do Instituto Robert Koch, Lothar Wieler.
“Teremos um Natal verdadeiramente terrível se não fizermos algo contra a atual tendência”, alertou, acrescentando que o número real de casos por dia pode ser até “o dobro ou o triplo” das cifras oficias.
No mesmo dia, a chanceler Angela Merkel, que está de saída do cargo, já havia dito que o país enfrenta um cenário “dramático” e feito um apelo para que as pessoas se vacinassem.
